#5 misfire problem

Asked by clint57 Apr 30, 2007 at 05:48 PM about the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I get a #5 misfire. The coil pack is good and the injectors are good what else could it be?I've heard the intake manifold gasket or the computer on the firewall. It runs good when you first start up then after about 5 min. it starts missing and the check engine light comes on.It remains on and misses untill it cools down over night. I also have good compression about 120 LBS.

Hi Clint ... Compression was my first guess, and valves would be my second guess but that's generally not heat-related. The manifold could be a source of issues because this obviously relates to heat but you may need professional help on this one. Try your local Jeep service manager for answers on this one. Good luck.
