Audi a4 b5 2.8 quattro 1999
Hello. I am trying to get some information quickly if
at all possible. I appreciate and all input regarding
the subject. I have a 99 a4 quattro that I have
rebuilt an engine for. The rebuilt engine was
sourced from a place about a year ago and I am
now ready to put the engine in the car. When I first
received the motor I took almost everything off of
it in order to rebuild it. Now I need to replace the
dual mass flywheel and new clutch kit before the
engine is put in the car. My problem is that a year
ago when I removed the flywheel I didn't know that
I had to mark it at TDC as well as the block to have
a reference to reinstall later. I am not sure if you do
or don't have to do this. I have a service manual
that says that you do. My question is how can I
determine where the TDC mark, if there is one, is
on my flywheel? I know how to set my engine to
TDC but I don't know what to do with this flywheel.

Thank you. So you are basically saying that I can put this flywheel and clutch back on in any position and it does not matter? If so, why does this service manual even say this? I've also heard that the flywheel and clutch should have white marks on them so that they are mated up to each other property. Thanks, Andy.
OK thanks. Well I don't have a problem with putting the engine to TDC. I have the tool to lock it into it. I just don't see any distinguishing marks on the flywheel. Are you saying that there are none 'on the flywheel'? But that as long as I set the engine to TDC, I can then install the flywheel to the motor at any position. As long as when I do the motor is at TDC. Thanks, Andy.
