how to fail smog check

How do I fail the California smog check? My car is old and I want to retire it and
get the $1000 from the state of cal. But it fail due to a fuel cap inspection, not
emission. This does not qualify me for the $1000. Can I put something in the
gas tank to make sure that it will fail the emission test?

Unplug the O2 sensor and get the check engine light to come on.
