2002 GMC Yukon XL Test Adapter and Description Table

Asked by Guru9CL11L Jul 25, 2021 at 11:48 AM about the 2002 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a probe adapter kit to check some terminals in my electrical
connectors.  I own the factory manual for the truck, but cannot find the
references to the terminal sizes.  I found one reference that states to "refer to
the Test Adapter and Description Table"; then, the following: "Refer to Power
and Signal Distribution > Wiring Systems and Power Management >
Diagnostic Information and Procedures > Probing Electrical
Connectors in the appropriate Service Information SI."
Are they referring to info. in the GM tech subscription service (AKA $$$) ?

Is there another way to find the terminal adapter references?

Follow-up: The "connector view" in the factory service manual includes the type of terminal (e.g. "...Metri-Pack 280 Series). Then, I matched up the wire size in the schematic with the appropriate wire gauge to purchase online. I also compared an actual terminal with the online photos before purchase. Just make sure that you are looking at the appropriate series terminal and whether it is "sealed" or "unsealed" (e.g. "Metri-Pack 280 Series Sealed" vs. "Metri-Pack 280 Series Unsealed). The sealed series has a little rubber stop on the wire to keep water and other contaminants from entering the connector from where you would "back probe" it. Best of luck!
