Smoke coming out from Muffler

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I’m trying to get my car ready to pass the
emission test. The check engine light was on and I
was told that it was because my O2 upstream
sensor was not working. Therefore I replaced it with
a new one. This caused the check engine light to
disappear which is great but smoke started coming
out from the muffler. I’m aware that it can be
“cleaning” itself out but it seems that the amount of
smoke coming out isn’t decreasing. What can I do?

What color is the smoke? White, black or blue in color?
