Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok first time here. So be descriptive. I have a
90 ranger 4.0 4x4. Randomly the gears slip
while driving and almost everytime I shift.
Except 1 gear. Takes a couple tries to getthe
gear to engage. Clutch shift in out in out
untill it catchs. But randomly will slip athigher
speed rpms. It wont pop out of gear It Just
slips. I need a ride to work and I'm a single
father of 2. Please help.
Also I have a 97 ranger 4.0 4x4. It starts but
when I shift it won't engage. Clutch is toast
in that thing. I can start it in gear without
clutch what ever. Dont jump or nothing just
idles there. Hoping the trans is good though.
Could these transmissions interchange?
