Will not start unless being jumped

I have a 1990 2.9 ranger I put a new
starter relay on it and it still jus clicks
when I turn the key, but will start right up
when being jumped

Look for a bad battery cable terminal end or even a bad battery. When you hook up your jumpers you're obviously making a solid connection to your battery cables, but the rest of the time you have a weak connection.

Same issue and followed my ground wire that goes lower, replaced it and started perfect..
