1991 GMC Sierra 4x4. Doesnt want to lock into 4 wheel drive???

I put a new axle in the front of my truck today and the 4 wheels drive worked. Tried it again a few hours later and cant get it to lock in? Anyone got any solutions to this problem???? Anything will help.

if it has the electronic acuator in the front chunck check that acuator
