You need to check the shift linkage and make sure it is working, this maybe your problem. Are you getting any codes? The transmission shift sensor may be bad or the shift solenoids need to be replaced. There is the governor pressure solenoid, which is a round metal can on the right side of the valve body. There is also the TCC/3-4 solenoid pack, which is mounted to the right side of the valve body. This is a double solenoid that comes with the internal transmission wiring harness, these are internal parts and to replace them you need to remove the valve body from the transmission. It is difficult to make a correct diagnosis not being with the truck.
