I own a 91 Ford explorer.  I bought a new battery
because it was needed. Yesterday when I started it
up to head home it died so I got a jump. Well it
died again. I figured it was the alternator so I got it
tested it was bad so I replaced it. Work for a hour
or to and the battery died. Found out the alternator
isn't charging my battery. I was told when you
disconnect the battery it should stay running but it
dies I have a good battery and a good alternator.  
What you think the problem could be?

also, quite often alternators are bad right out of the box. if you buy one have it tested before you leave with it.
