You don't HAVE to, but it can make a lot of economical sense, since you are disassembling a lot of the front of the engine. Check the service interval for your timing chain, if you've past it or are getting close, may want to include it in addition to the water pump.
When changing a water pump on a 2003 pt cruiser do you have to replace the timing chain as well?
