i had the same problem and it was my ignition...so it maybe the key or you need a new ignition like i did

My standard '08 P/T just died at a stop sign last week, wouldn't jump, got a new battery and it just cranks and feels like it has no compression as well. Also sounds different while cranking. No engine light(s) come on what confuses me. Thought fuel pump or more so, timing belt. 98K. Just ran across this if either agree with my assessment or believe maybe also ignition....wouldn't think it would turn over if was ignition imo, but.....Thanks for any help!
