Car Trouble of course

Asked by tree103 Jun 22, 2016 at 12:39 AM about the 2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello , I'm get into my truck and leave and
soon as I start accelerating , I hear a
squealing rubbing sound in the rear as I pick
up the pace. I can really hear the noise when
I am slowing down and starting to
accelerate. Once again. I'm in San Antonio
Iwe don't get that much rain but it does rain
a lot and it will be in spurts. I'm unemplyed
so I only drive it if necessary. I still shouldn't
be having that problem though. Last year I
changed the rear brake pads and had some
work done to the rotors. Cold part about it is
that I have   jury duty and in the middle of
the session. I'm scared to drive my vehicle
not knowing what could happen. I'm up
north and duty is downtown San Antonio. It
sucks. Any ideas?

I'd say to inspect the rear brakes. The sound you describe goes faster and slower as you accelerate and slow down. Possible frozen up rear brake caliper. Jack up each wheel and see if you can spin them without a lot of resistance. Then take the wheels off and inspect the brake pads.
