does the gas mileage improve after initial break-in period?

Asked by pdf Dec 17, 2007 at 09:18 PM about the 2007 Honda Civic LX

Question type: General

I have 500 miles on my 2007 Civic LX. I am getting only 22 mpg, stop and go driving. I am wondering if their is a break-in period for the engine after which mileage will improve?

not really it depends on mostley your driving habits in stop and go traffic.

Actually your mileage will improve. but you may not see that until 10k plus. It does take time for everything meaning pistons and rings to seat properly. Always with stop and go traffic you will never see your best mileage.
