What kind of brakes does my car have? Disc or pad?

Asked by Linda Sep 20, 2020 at 12:50 AM about the 2005 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased a 2005 Ford Taurus and I think
the brakes are starting to squeal a little. I'm not
sure what kind I need to purchase. I looked at the
owner's manual but it doesn't say if they're disc or
pads! Please help

The brakes are disk. Disk brakes have brake pads that press on the rotor (disk).

Think of the hand brakes on a bicycle. Same thing on a larger scale. The pads squeeze the wheel on a bike to stop it. Hope that helps! Jim
