2002 Ford Taurus won't star but lights come on

Asked by Willy Feb 27, 2021 at 12:56 PM about the 2002 Ford Taurus LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My friend has a Ford Taurus and it wouldn't crank like it has been. I tried
jumping it off, first thought is dead battery. But it does absolutely nothing. Is this
a starter or alternator issue??

If it's not even trying to turn over then most likely a starter issue. Make sure the battery has enough voltage on it. About 12.5 is what you're looking for. If the alternator is bad it should start and will drain the battery dead over time. Also make sure the wiring connector to the starter is getting power.
