02 Explorer stalls after turning the wheel while stationary

Asked by Kuba Nov 30, 2016 at 06:35 PM about the 2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm not really sure what the problem is, everytime I try to turn the wheel while
stationary the car dies on me. Pretty sure it's the power steering pump. I can't
thing of anything else.

Yes, the power steering pump is not relieving pressure when it reached the end of the cylinder stroke on the rack n pinion, unless it does it even when it hasn't reached the end, then you might want to check the rack n pinion cylinder
