Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2002 ford explorer 4.6 won't start unless a
spark plug is removed. Coolant busted out
up from behind engine. Started running
terrible now it won't run unless a spark plug
is removed. Why will it only run while a plug
is removed?

Blown head gasket, the cylinder is filling up with coolant causing a hydrolock. Coolant is liquid and non-compressable. I'll bet it is losing coolant also.

And it will run when I remove the egr valve. As long as there's somewhere else for air to go, it'll run. No more than 2k rpm though.
