Kept saying fail. My security light
flashes when I put my key in ignition
but when they try to test it the light
shuts off. I don't have a thousand
dollars to have it inspected and then
fixed. I'm trying to get ideas of what
it could be.

Does the engine crank when you turn the key? If so then the problem is not with the key. If absolutely nothing happens when the key is turned to the start position, there may be a malfunction with the security system blocking the starting procedure.

I had the same problem and everyone told me that it would cost me thousands of dollars but it only cost me five dollars

When you try starting it do you see - - - - on the odometer

OK i'm stumped. I have a 2001 ford explorer(please keep comments about fords to yourself ). I've had 4 episodes where i was driving along with no issues and the even though i am excellerating the car stops running and the stalls out. Once i pull it to the side of the road and try to start it it back fires and qcts like it it out of gas but if you wait 30 plus minutes it will start and run for a bit longer then repeats itself a couple more times but then it will runs for days until it does it again. The check engine light is not on but the check gas cap is on. we replaced the gas cap and it is still on. The first time this happened I had it towed and the mechanic tightened the serpentine belt and fixed the manifold gasket. Does anyone have any ideas???? 14 Answers

ok I got a 2003 Ford Explorer if I jump it off the solenoid it starts but if I use the key it doesn't do nothing you don't even try to crank over could it be a bad starter 8 Answers
