Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I know this is stupid to ask but what
is a servo ?? And what’s the parts
name? Where is it located on the
transmission? Having trouble with my
2002 Ford Explorer o/d light and I am
broke and have three daughters to
take care of. I have no clue what to
do.

A servo is a mechanism that reacts when conditions in your transmission tell it to. The O/D light is telling you that the overdrive gear in the transmission is turning off for some reason (it is normally on as a fuel saving function). When it turns off, the O/D light comes on. You should have this looked into but it will not leave you stranded. Go to a place that will give you a free estimate and has a good reputation around your location.
