My blower and A/C compressor is noty working

I connected the blower and the A/c compressor directly to the battery and they worked but will not run on its own not sure what to do?

There is a pressure sensor on the accumulator. If this sensor does not sense adequate pressure in the AC system or if the system is low on refrigerant (134a) then the pump will not kick. Check the pressure in your system and sometimes these pressure switches hang up. You can try giving it a few light taps to see if you can free it up. Also check the AC pump relay. Call for cooling and jump out the relay to see if that is the issue.

I'd hook up a manifold gauge set and see if there's enough R134a to actually trip the Low-side switch. With a vehicle of this vintage and Ford's reputation of using inferior O-rings in that era, I wouldn't be surprised if it just leaked out enough to prevent the system from coming on and damaging itself.
