Why do I keep having this electrical issue.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1990 Ford Bronco II. I have replaced the starter 2 times, and the starter solenoid 3 times. My starter is staying engaged with the key even out of the ignition once the battery is reconnected. I have visually checked for frayed wires or disconnected ground wires. Has anyone heard of this issue?

Yes check the teeth on your flywheel especially the housing where it bolts to transmission. This one problem costed me hundreds of unnecessary dollars getting towed to shops & they kept telling me to replace starters & solenoids. Well I was about to pull motor & transmission, luckily I dropped transmission first & saw the housing bolts had busted completely out.
