1990 Ford Bronco II 2.9 Sputtering

Asked by Bryan Sep 09, 2015 at 11:20 AM about the 1990 Ford Bronco II 2 Dr XL 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My stock 2.9 loses power and kinda sputters when going uphill. Will drop from 75 to around 60 mph on highway. This is a recent purchases haven't done anything to it as of yet other than change the oil. On flat ground it runs fine wondering if it might be fuel pickup or fuel filter.

Give the throttle body a good cleaning as well with a throttle body cleaner such as CRC.

Then once you find your problem, Amazon has an 35hp chip for $50.00 that'll give you enough pickup to get over those hill's & better mpg...I have no complaints. It hooks up within 15mins if you follow instructions.(i only know from trial & error about broncos) I bought my knowledge dealing with mechanics in these shops. So I come here for input from bronco owners now thanx everyone
