Best to buy a full kit and have a speed shop install it as there will be programming involved too and a few custom mods to get it installed that a novice will find difficult.

Hope you have more than a few $$$. Turbo upgrades can be expensive to install and also require other upgrades. I have a friend who spent over $15K upgrading his 2005 Mustang convertible.

The stock engine will not take a lot of boost without installing forged pistons. You could buy another car with the money you would spend just on the engine and turbo.

Did you end up doing a turbo kit or diy. I have a 2009 4.0 v6 mustang its my daily and kind of a project i am already in the market for a 07 to 2014 super snake. But my v6 i will keep i like it and once tax return comes i will be installing a rear mount turbo. I also have a lot of bolt ons and 91 oct tune i know i would not have to mess with my internals unless i plan on running a whole lot of boost i do know that the 4.0 are cast iron block with forged pistons they can handle 12 psi boost max on stock block i plan on running 8 or 9 psi boost. Well hopefully i hear back on your project.
