I have an unknown electrical problem with my 93 ford probe

Asked by dszomszed Oct 22, 2016 at 09:34 PM about the 1993 Ford Probe GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My fuel cutout and antilock lights just started coming on yesterday. I had an oil
leak and replaced the valve cover gasket which rectified that but those lights
are still on and weirdthings are happening. Whn I hit the gas my battery level
goes right up and my stereo turns off. When I hit the break my batery level goes
down and my stereo turns on. Also when I hit thebrake the lights go off. And
when I have the heat at full boreand my headlights on my stereo works and
when I turn them off the stereo turns off. What could be the problem? My car
runs good otherwise

Sounds like you may be experience a ground problem ,first make sure you didn't leave a ground of when you replaced the valve cover gasket .2ND inspect the body grounds under the hood should be several from the battery to a fender or firewall from engine to firewall etc .also make sure your battery terminals are not cracked ,clean and tightened properly .Good luck

Also I noticed this morning when I was driving it when I accelerate everything seems to go faster....my wipers go fast and my heat goes full bore then when I brake everything goes back to normal and the e anti lock and fuel cutout lights go off. Its like when I accelerate I have too much power
