After market "oe" passenger mirror issue

Asked by Lbaxpdx Mar 08, 2020 at 09:23 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 3LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: General

Ok I bought an aftermarket mirror to replace
someone breaking it while parked. I installed
the new one and everything works except the
folding mirror. When I fold them in nothing
happens to the passenger mirror the driver
mirror folds in like it's supposed to. When I
fold it out the new passenger folds in. A
friend says it's out of phase 180.. what's my
solution?

If you know what wires are for the folding feature swap the positions of them. Perhaps they were transposed at assembly. Hope that helps! Jim

A repair manual that can be bought from your local auto parts store, your local Chevrolet Dealer, or any repair facility that has access to Mitchell on Demand or another information database. Hope that helps! Jim

Try folding your mirrors in from your remote by holding the lock button down, and keep it pressed down for about 7 seconds, and see what happens. It's a factory reset process for when they're misaligned. One should sort of "pop" and the other should move as desired. If that doesn't work, my advice would be to check the wiring that your friend mentioned.
