Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 chevy silverado 1500 5.3 v8 and i have lost all spark on every
cylinder. i had the truck idling in the driveway and it died all of sudden. went
out to restart and i dont get a fire or any pop at all and put a spark tester on
multiple cylinders and identified that i indeed have no spark anywhere. i
started by testing to make sure i have good voltage and ground at the plugins
for each coil which i do. then i replace the crankshaft position sensor (which it
wasnt throwing a code for it but replaced it anyway) and it still has no spark.
the only thing i could think of left that could be bad would be my pcm. today i
went to the junkyard and bought a used pcm that has the exact same
numbers on the tag and tried swapping it and going through the re-learn and
still no spark. went back to original pcm, still no spark. im absolutely stumped
here. any help would be appreciated.

i thought camshaft positioning sensor was only monitored by the pcm for fuel synchronization? where the crankshaft positioning sensor is monitored for ignition and fuel?

there are no codes for either the crankshaft or camshaft positioning sensor. the only reason i swapped the crankshaft positioning sensor is because the haynes manual says if you have a loss of spark and have already confirmed that there is good voltage and ground at coils then it may be the crankshaft positioning sensor, pcm, or wiring. i have a new pcm on the way. i am going to try that and if that does not work i will replace the camshaft positioning sensor. i appreciate the help and will update after i install the new pcm.

i had already ordered a new pcm before you mentioned the camshaft positioning sensor, and like i previously stated, the manual does not state the camshaft positioning sensor to cause a loss of all spark, only the crankshaft positioning sensor, pcm, or faulty wiring

update: i installed a new pcm i ordered with my VIN programmed into it. did the re-learn procedure, still no spark. replaced the camshaft position sensor like you already reccomended, still no spark. checked plug ins for the camshaft and crankshaft positioning sensor to make sure i have a good ground and good voltage. they read all good. replaced the ignition switch in the steering column just for shits and giggles, still no luck. anybody got any help here???? absolutely ready to pull my hair out and just ship the thing to the damn junkyard.

it does not have a separate ignition module. just the pcm, and coils.
