Is the front differential bad?

My truck will go into 4wd high, but not 4wd low. It also makes an oscillating low frequency
noise up front.  Not in the engine, underneath

would that also be what is making the noise I hear?

Yes,why i say this is you cant shift to low,the acutator is bad and will give you a humming sound.
