Chevy lumina van stalling ???
I just bought a chevy lumina van i was
driving it home (30 min from where i
bought it to where i live) and it started
to loose speed five minutes from
home. I pulled over and the car stalled
out. I let it sit for a minute and tried to
restart it. It started but stslled out in
less than a minute acting likeit was
out of gas.
We put more gas in and tried it again
and it stalled again. We started it
again while looking at where the fuel
should be coming out and noticed it
was not coming out consistently. It
would be a small squirt every once
while.
We lwft to get a tow rope and some
fuel injector cleaner ( figuring it was a
fuel injector ptoblem). When we got
back we tried it again and it started
right up drove the five minutes home
and idled for another 10 minutes and
made a trip around the block.
This morning it wouldn't start and
then this afternoon it started. This
evening it wouldn't start again but i
tried it again 20 minutes later and it
ran again.
We are figuring its fuel pump or
injectors . Anyone else have some
ideas?
think this may be an undervoltage condition causing the fuel pump relay to drop out and lose contacts...intermittently...cause corrosion at the black cable connecting to the ground chassis...wirebrush the lug and chassis to assure 300 amp contact and plenty of SOLID ground to the components such as the fuel pressure regulator~____http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php? make=CHEVROLET
I am new to this whole fixing car things. Are you talking about the black cable(negative) on my battery? The previous owners just bought a new battery for it last week. But i will check for corrosion in the am. Assuming that is what you are talking about
