what makes all my lights go out except headlights

I had my alternator changed and the car ran fine for 2 or 3 hours then all my
dashboard lights and radio went out power windows stopped working while I
was driving down the road. I drove for 10 more miles and cut the car off and
then turn the key and nothing won't even turn over

Check fuses and clean the battery terminals and cable ends and make sure the cable ends clamp tight. Also have the battery charged and tested. Make sure the new alternator is actually charging as well. A lot of rebuilt alternators are junk.
