I was told that I had a transmission linkage line bust---anyone have this problem? What's involved with getting it replaced?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car lost all AT fluid, stopped as soon as I noticed something was wrong.  No
warning light came on, but as soon as I stopped it drained thru my oil filter.
Was told it was a busted AT linkage line.  Does that sound right?

Are you sure it's the transmission cooler line or the oil cooler hoses? The oil cooler is external and has two hoses running to it and if one ruptures can quickly drain all oil. The transmission has two cooler lines that run to the radiator, a leak in one of those will not appear to come from the oil filter. They're not intermingled in any way. If the trans cooler in the radiator leaks inside the radiator you may get AT fluid in the coolant, or worse coolant in the trans.
