Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The fuel gauge of my 2002 Lexus RX300 goes straight to tank full yet I know that it isn't by
number of miles I have driven since last gas fill-up.  It only moves when I start the engine
of the vehicle.  Is this an issue where resetting the gauge will solve the problem.

Sounds like either the sending unit in the tank or the wiring to it is damaged. When it moves while starting thats just the cluster powering up. If the sending unit has failed in the tank it will need to be replaced. You can check the wiring from the tank to the cab however wiring damage on newer vehicles is rare
