what cause my check engine light to stay on when driving on the street but goes out when driving on the highway?

Please help me if you can check engine light stays on when driving on the streets but when i get on the highway the check engine light goes out then comes back on when i return driving on the streets could it possibly a O2 sensor problem?

You need to go have the code pulled at a parts store. Could really be anything.

I'm thinking Having the codes pulled will lead you in the right direction,however will not solve the problem if you are not a mechanic like me find one that you trust,good luck it took me 30 years to find mine.
