Changing out staggered rims

Asked by PaulyCorn Feb 28, 2019 at 09:04 PM about the 2007 Lexus IS 250 RWD

Question type: Car Customization

I'm considering new rims  for my 2007 Lexus is250 rwd. Currently i have the
stock rims which are staggered (Back are bigger than the front). This wears
my tires out pretty quickly and I'm considering getting new rims in all the
same size. Currently my rims require 255/40rz18 in the back, and 225/40rz18
in the front. I'm wondering if I should expect any issues by making all four
rims the same size on this particular car. Or would it be better to just stick
with the staggered? If I can swap them out for all 4 the same size, what size is
recommended?

Fast tire wear is likely due to soft performance tires, not the staggering. I would shop for tires with a good wear rating/mileage warranty. I would stick to the stock sizes to keep the handling balance.
