No acceleration

I have a 05 Expedition, it started sputtering
and cutting out while driving it, it will lose
power and sometimes the power will pick
back up, and sometimes I will have to pull
off the road and it will either die or I have to
kill the engine and restart it. Then take off
again. Yesterday it did that, then it backfired
from the tail pipe, lost power and died. I
started it again, but every time I put it in
gear, it sputters and dies. It will idle,but as
soon as I push the gas it dies. Can't get it to
move at all.
