If I paint my car matte red over the original,
silver, metallic paint will it catch on fire if it
gets too hot?

No. Your car will catch on fire before the paint does, depending how hot you're talking about.

^^ that's what i thought too. A cop told me that I need to fix it because the matte paint on a metallic base will cause fire. But I don't know why that would be
