Check for a vacuum leak, take a can of carb cleaner or either and spray around the intake if the engine speeds up you located the leak

Thanks Mike, I’ll give it a try. Someone also mentioned it could be the bearings on the alternator or water pump. Will that cause the car to over heat?

The water pump is a possibility for overheating but not the alternator. While the alternator bearings can make a whistle noise it won't cause an overheat unless it's causing the belt to slip.l hope this helps you
