Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car wasn't starting. Jumped to start a few times to
get home. Wouldn't start anymore. Changed starter
and Altinator. Car still will not start. Altinator keeps
running. Car still doesn't start. Have to pull positive
cable off. Light's are dim. Battery is charged. Can
you tell me what the major malfunction is? I know
it's electrical. I believe the starter should not keep
spinning. I have a program called FIXD. Car had to
run to diagnose! Can you help?

An alternator can't possibly "keep running," it's driven by the serpentine belt. Maybe you meant Starter. I would first check you have a good battery. It needs to be LOAD tested. Not just checked for 12V across the terminals. It might have a bad cell, preventing it from making enough amps to crank the starter. Then check the starter relay. Check ignition circuit by testing voltages at starter.
