03 ranger edge 3.0 starting problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am having issues starting my 03 ranger. Most
times it will not crank unless I switch it into neutral
and then jam ot back up into park. It has been
doing this for awhile and I cant figure it out. Any
help

I am a retired Auto Mech and I grew up with Fords, and this has always been a Ford thing when I was a young laid almost every Ford you would have to hold the Shifter up or kind of wiggle it in and around Park, there is a adjustment to help this, years ago we just lived with it and it was accepted part of owning a FORD, they mostly fixed this but you might be a lucky one hahahhaha try holding in into Park even softly rocking your shifter above and into park why trying to turn it over, if you find a place that it turns over that is it, there is also a switch that has a Botton that rested against your shifter, those can come lose, get sticky, or wear out hope I have helped :) have a wonderful day
