2015 forrester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2015 Forrester currently has 67,000
miles.  It is a standard  transmission.  It
drinks a quart of oil every thousand miles.
Recently it has been dying when I stop at a
red light.  But only one out of every 20
times or so, so of course if I take it to a
mechanic it won't do it for them.  Other
than that it is been a great car but this is
very frustrating.

Go to a Subaru dealer and demand an oil consumption test. Subaru's standard is no more than 1 quart in 3,600 miles or 1/3 quart in 1,200 miles. Mine was burning about that much and I got a new engine.
