what would cause any car, automatic, to viberate in drive with foot on brake

Warped brake rotors is the most common cause of vibrations when applying the brakes while moving. Sometimes it is caused by over tightening the lug nuts.

rough or low idle, vacuum leak, faulty motor mounts to name a couple. Is the check engine light on?
