Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 ford expedition alt 4.6 2 wheel drive. I thought it was just
blower problem then I noticed other problems when I started to drive it
more. Just got this car not long ago and the blower motor will stay on when
the car is off. then I noticed the overhead temp and direction is staying on.
Then it started to chime when I am driving. Any ideas? I was thinking the
GEM is bad but it looks good when I removed it. NO water damage or
anything. Any Ideas? Could it still be the GEM? This is my GEM

Hi OP, I had a problem while back on a 2004 Expedition that turned out to be GEM related. There is no test that can be done to the GEM itself, although there are tests that can be run on the circuits to the GEM, it does require a Ford scan tool for those, you might be able to test the multi-function switch though on your own. If swapping the module, your "supposed" to xfer some programming data over to new module from old on 99 and up models. Considering the costs to get scan tests done at a dealer, it might be worth it to swap it out with a similar part # GEM off Ebay and take a gamble on it. Or try local pick-a-parts.

ok thanks very much for your help. I might try to get a new GEM and replace it and see if that works. Thanks
