determining which washer bottle fits a Mazda 3

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

As I said a ufo broke the bumper cover on our 2014 Mazda 3i touring and
cracked the washer bottle.  When I go online there are about ten washer
bottles advertised for prices from thirty to over a hundred dollars. What I see
for 2014 mazdas looks like a large square bottle. What I see in the car is a
molded bottle with a long filler neck. Shouldn't this be easier? How many
different bottles are there? The car didn't change that much. I am trying to
avoid buying it from the dealer for several thousand dollars.

Does your washer bottle have a part number molded on it? If it does hunt down that part number. You can also try local salvage yards, at least that way you can do a side-by-side comparison.

The dealer gave me the oe part number. If you look, softer marker there must be twenty of these in slightly different shapes. I liken it to Mazdas desire to mold different parts for all models of the exact same car. Slight differences for no reason except to make junkyard shopping impossible. I wish I had them here, there is something I would like to tell them.

If the dealer runs your VIN they should get the right part. If it is wrong then they will take it back, no charge, no worries.
