Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1994 ford ranger 4.0l 5speed 4x4
and my gas gauge hasn't ever worked
while I have owned it. But that's no
problem to me when I press the gas it
almost like there's a delay like if I'm
coasting down a road in 3rd gear and call
for the power it's like there's a hesitation
sputtering type thing going on. I'm
wundering if maybe the fuel pump isn't
putting out its full potential and when I call
for acceleration it's delayed before it really
starts accelerating good. What els could it
be? Any thoughts?

Could be the pump, you will need to test the pressure. have you ever had the injectors cleaned when is the last time the car had a really good tune-up, plugs, wires ETC.
