But some AWD drive vehicles are full time all wheel drive ....... now the part that i dont understand is why is it when you are in a 4x4 and you turn you feel the vehicle jump or not sutter but all for wheels grabbing but in a all wheel drive car this does not happen
thats is when the transfer case is locked up and the front and rear end are turning at the same speed. when you go around a turn the ftont wheels make a wider arc then the rear, therefor they have to travel a longer distance, and go faster. but with the front and rear ends locked together they have to spin at the same speed. the drive train goes under a huge amount of stress, then the tire slips and repeats, making the vehicle shudder. its not good to have a vehicle in 4 low on pavement becuase of this. most vehicles are ok in 4 high, but not all depends on if they lock up or not
I understand about the shudder i just didnt know what it was called any ways its also a killer on u joints but anyways i question is why doesntthe shudder happen in all wheel drive cars in happens in my truck when i am in 4 hi
usually dosent happen in 4 hi, but not all trucks/suvs are the same. it doesent happen in a full time awd because thier is no solid connection between the front and rear diffs.
