why does a car show frame damage on site but dealer says carfax is clean?
i was looking at a RX350 suv. on Cargurus It shows frame damage. but when I
talked to the dealer they said no accident with this car and have a clean
carfax... Why would it show up as a warning for frame damage but then carfax
says its a clean car? thanks

Apparently CF and AutoCheck have different information.
Keep in mind some sleazy dealers fake the CF report.
Did you see the carfax report for yourself? Don't just take the Dealer's word!! Jim
How about when I run the CarFax myself and it doesn't show any frame damage? Are you telling me that CarGurus only uses AutoCheck??
Hi Joel. Even though this thread is two years old I'll answer your question. Carfax and other vehicle history report companies are only as good as the places reporting to them! Let's use my 1993 Chevrolet Caprice as an example. I bought the car brand new on October 16, 1993. I had the car serviced and repaired exclusively at my local Chevrolet Dealer for the 19 years I owned it. If you look at the Carfax for my Caprice you would see where I bought it, then nothing until January of 2000. That's because my local Chevrolet Dealer didn't start reporting to Carfax until January of 2000. So none of the oil changes, tire rotations, tune ups, etc. are on the Carfax report for that vehicle. It's also important to know that Cargurus is an advertising site only. Similar to Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc. They don't buy or sell or report anything to anyone. Hope that helps you understand how vehicle history reports work. Jim
