Mice keep chewing through my wires

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

These rodents have cost me over
$1800 in damage to my vehicles and
It keeps continuing to happen. I have
been doing my research and tried
ever tip and trick that has been given
besides having all my wiring wrapped
in that special tape that Honda
makes. I live in the woods so trying to
eliminate all these boogers is a never
ending battle. I have tried the
peppermint spray, moth balls under
the hood, lights, etc.  I can’t do the
traps an each side of the tires
because I have 3 cars and little dogs.
They really like the wires in my Ford
F-150 as this has been fixed 3 times
now in the past year. I assume it’s
because these wires are soy based.
My mechanic had to replace 15 wires
two days ago. I picked it up
yesterday so excited I have my truck
back to only go start it this morning
and it won’t start. I soaked all the
tires and sprayed around the inside of
the hood  with peppermint spray and
had moth balls in the engine
compartment.  Does anyone have
any other suggestions? i just had 2
wires replaced in my Kia and they
have also chewed through wires in
my civic.

Have you though about trading in those vehicles for one of these?
