Question type: General

I have a 1999 oldsmobile 88 and the car will start while its
cold and run for about 5 minutes then it will die. I try to
start it again but the fuel pump wont turn on until its cooled
down. What do you think it could be? I checked Fuel pump
relay and the ground under the door. I also replaced the

Id' check voltage and ground for fuel pump when problem is ongoing. If good voltage and ground with no fuel pump action, suspect the fuel pump. Even if the pump runs that doesn't mean it makes good fuel pressure, so use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. In the diagram, the gray wire is voltage, the black wire is ground for fuel pump motor, you can use a test light to check both. You can remove relay, when problem is ongoing, use a jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87 cavity, with key on, the pump should run, you don't need to crank it. Just speaking for myself, with engine cranking, I can't hear the pump. Even if you hear it, that doesn't mean it makes good pressure. good luck
