ARS light comes on and car slows to idle speed when I try to accelerate fast

ARS light comes on and car slows to idle speed when I try to accelerate fast.
This happens in both settings of the traction control switch located on the dash
What is the fix.     1991 500sl

check your ASR cables on all four wheels and replace if necessary otherwise have a technician analyze your problem while the fault-light remains on.
