Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My chech engine light is blinking on
my 01 DTS northstar. I had it scanned
and said missing on cylinder 6. I
replaced the coil pack and changed
all the plugs. Still runs rough but
power is still there and drivable. What
is my next step? I like to do things
myself but this is beyond me and it's
been a great car and perfectly
maintained. 130000...please help!!!

Did you check or replace the injector? did you perform a compression test on #6?

I have not done a pressure check. After I changed the coil it jumped from 6 to 2. Changed the plugs and didn't do crap. Pulses different in reverse than in drive. Less. I'm hoping it's something simple. Probably not injector because it jumps cylinders correct?

I have to keep driving it. Am I doing irreparable damage to the car by running it with a blinking check engine light? The check engine light was on before but it was for an O2 sensor then a month or so went by and started blinking and here I am.

flashing because of misfire.(raw) un-burned fuel can damage the catalytic converter.you say you switched injectors and the misfire moved?

I guess.. your saying the injector on the 6th ? That's what cylinder came first. I then changed all plugs and front coil, ran test and it changes to the 2nd. There are injectors or each cylinder right? Would there be a way to test the injector for each. I'm going to try to find a vac leak tonight with starting fluid. What would you advise I do next?

Just power and pulse at injectors other wise you need to replace them.don't use starting fluid to test for a vacuum leak way to flammable!! use brake cleaner. Also you need to check compression or your just spinning your wheels.
